External HD Lego Case

Published by nucklearknight at 12:05 am under Computers Edit This

I have a 320 GB external hard drive made by iomega. When left on for a long period of time it generates quite a bit of heat, which isn’t good since I don’t think it should be that hot. So I decided to make a different case for it, a case made out of legos. I have a lot of legos lying around and so I built a case for my external HD. I glued most of the pieces on and drilled some holes in the bottom to allow me to secure the had drive to it. Ten I soldered some wires to the pins for the USB connector to give a small fan some power and I mounted that at one end so it blows air over the hard drive. I also pulled some heatsinks off of an old graphics card that didn’t work and slapped them on there. So far it’s stayed pretty cool. Here are some pictures.
