Action Ethics
Virtue Ethics- Traditionally a good person is a person who does good actions. However is that true? Virtue ethics says that you should not measure how good a person is by their actions but by who they are. You can do all the good things in the world and still not be a good person.
Somebody can donate to the poor, kiss babies, shake hands, and do a lot of things that look like great things and that in fact are. However on the inside maybe that person is in fact a selfish hateful person on the inside and nobody knows is.
Therefore, what IS a good person?
A measure of quality of character is something that can help lead us in the right direction.
Why do good people do good things? Because it makes them feel good inside. They have an aspect of their character that guides them in the right path.
With Value Ethics however, you can never quantify anything. You can’t measure the virtue
